Review of "ANSWERS to Tough Questions"

Review of Josh McDowell and Don Stewart’s book "ANSWERS to Tough Questions"
(pacifically the last chapter dealing with the creation accounts in Genesis Chapters 1 and 2)

Rather than just address Chapters 1 & 2, the authors have picked several people who think that Chapters One and Two of Genesis disagree or contradict each other and has set them up as Straw Men. One of the Straw Men even suggest that there were two different authors of the two Chapters. The authors then show how these Straw Men disagree with each other, and thereby have the Straw Men destroy each other’s theory. .

The question is not whether or not Chapters One and Two agree with each other, anymore than if Chapters One and Two of Acts agree with each other. The question should be whether there is anything in Genesis Chapters One and Two that would indicate the Chapter 2 verses 6 through 25 is a recap or is still addressing the events in Chapter One, verses 1 through Chapter 2 verse 5. The items do not have to line up or agree if they are not the same event to start with. There is no contradiction between the two chapters, even thought there are different instructions given , different items, and a different order of events, because they are not the same event. This is not addressed by the authors. Setting up Straw Men and then destroying the Straw Men, is not addressing or answering the question. The authors do not actually answer the question presented. I would recommend Bible study over reading their book.

The Bible is the best commentary on the Bible. Let the Bible say what it does say, without trying to make it fit what some one already believes or has taught. A person can rationalize anything to make it fit what they want, but that really does not change the facts or lead them to truth.
