The Preacher Said

The Pulpits are all saying,
I’ve got the truth, right here.
But if you check out what they say,
If their are right or not will be clear.

You are not suppose to question,
You are to accept whatever is said.
Some of the things that you’ve been told,
Are still spinning in your head.

If you ever do question,
Anything that they say.
They’ll say you have a critical spirit,
And send you on your way.

Truth will bear investigation.
Truth loves for you to see.
Evil loves the darkness.
The truth in light , will be.

Discernment is developed,
Over years of study and prayer.
Without it you will believe,
Whatever is in the air.

If you just sit and listen,
And look like you agree,
You will have the approval of others,
And their smiles you will see.

But when you have learned the truth,
It is hard to keep your peace.
Truth is best shared, not just kept,
It is for you to release.

If you want others to learn,
Some things that you found true,
Release it just a little at a time,
Is my advice to you.

For truth, if it is different,
From what is commonly held,
Will quickly be rejected,
No matter how well you tell.

Teach with love and kindness,
The truths that you have read.
If truth they grab a hold of,
It will be truth that the preacher said.
